Celebrate Romance

Hey, I'm always happy to Celebrate Romance, but it was especially fun to do so with readers and other authors in Baltimore a couple of weekends ago. I met some wonderful people and had the thrill of a lifetime when Mary Balogh asked me to sign a copy of The Improper Wife for her!
The other author in the photo is Sally MacKenzie, whose debut Regency Historical, The Naked Duke, is getting great reviews.
That's all for now!

Catching UP

It has been a while since I blogged! I was finishing up THE MARRIAGE BARGAIN, my Warner Forever October release, but it is finally turned in to the editor and awaiting her comment.
This book was an experience to me, because it did not come easily. I had a much more difficult time writing it than my other books and I'm not certain why. I think it was because it is the last book of my contract and now I need to go to bbth publishers for new contracts--an anxiety provoking situation for a new author (or maybe for any author, who knows?) So what I do next, writing-wise is think up new story ideas and propose them to the publishers. They will either accept them or reject them--in which case I think up different story ideas.

Some exciting news. THE WAGERING WIDOW is out in the UK this month and it hit the UK's Bookscan top 100 on all books sold last week!! Go to my website www.dianegaston.com to find out where to order the book.
THE WAGERING WIDOW was selected for special promotion this summer. It will be a bedside gift to guests staying at Old English Inns.

More good news! My Mills & Boon books are coming to North America! Harlequin Historicals will ...

Signing with Nora!

Wow, it has been a long time since I've blogged. I hope everyone reading this had a wonderful holiday season.

I've had a great time! Not only did I do a booksigning at my local Curves but I also had the great good fortune to do a booksigning at Turn The Page Bookstore Cafe in Boonesboro, Maryland. Way out in the hills of Maryland near the Antietam battlefield, is a little bookstore that attracts tons of readers for booksignings--because Nora Roberts signs there!

Nora's husband owns the friendly little store and I was invited to sign THE IMPROPER WIFE there. I sat next to Nora, a great place to be both for the extra sales of my book from those waiting in line for Nora, and also for the pleasure of listening to her interact with her many fans. Nora signed anything-old books, coffe mugs, tote bags. She graciously allowed herself to be photographed with anyone (including me!) What a great role model.

Meanwhile, I'm plugging away at THE MARRIAGE BARGAIN, with quite a bit to go before my deadline of February 1. There have been lots of distractions, including....THE IMPROPER WIFE being nominated for a Romantic Times BOOKclub Reviewers Choice Award for Best ...

Nov 13 Booksigning

Hello, Everyone!
Another first! I did my first booksigning for THE IMPROPER WIFE and what a special one it was! It was in New York City for the Romantic Times/SOS Inc fundraiser. I had the good fortune to sit next to Kristina Cook whose Regency Historical UNLACED was another debut. Kristina's pink cover attracted plenty of attention and she had the cutest pink purse shaped just like the corset on her cover. Here's a photo of Kristina and me, without the corset purse, unfortunately.
THE IMPROPER WIFE got its share of attention, and I think Kristina and I sold almost as many books as Barbara Taylor Bradford, who was also there.
THE IMPROPER WIFE continues to rack up positive reviews. Over a dozen of them so far! I discovered a positive review on Amazon right under the sole *nasty* one. It was from BOOKLIST, a publication that reviews books for librarians. That felt special.
But, honestly, all the positive reviews and emails feel special. I swear I will never forget this magical experience!
This Saturday, I'm signing THE IMPROPER WIFE at my local Curves, a place that promotes more than exercise! I'm really looking forward to that one, too, though it will be ...

The Improper Wife on the shelf!

The Improper Wife is in bookstores! I have seen it with my own eyes. The proof is in the photo!
This weekend my husband and I took a field trip to our local Borders and Barnes & Noble and there was my book on the shelf in both stores. Naturally we had to take a picture because this is another "first" for me. The first time to actually see my book in a store. Both stores were happy to allow me to sign the books on the shelf, another exciting first--"signing stock."
The wonderful experience continues. In addition to the wonderful review on Romance Reader at Heart, other great reviews keep pouring in. I am awed by the thoughtful assessments the reviewers make of The Improper Wife and very happy that they enjoyed the book. You can easily reach these reviews on my website http://www.dianeperkins.us
The Improper Wife is also featured on the Romance section of the Warner Books website. Have a look http://www.twbookmark.com/romance/index.html
This is all so exciting! I am happy to share it with you.
Oh, one more thing. Diane Gaston finished her revisions of Mills & Boon Historical A Reputable Rake. Now if only Diane Perkins would get cracking on Warner's A Marriage ...
